At DonorUnity.com, we strive to ensure a fair, transparent, and secure experience for donors and campaign owners. This Cancellation & Refund Policy explains when and how cancellations and refunds are handled, the eligibility criteria, applicable fees, and relevant legal references.

1. Purpose of This Policy

This policy applies to:

  • Donors who contribute funds to crowdfunding campaigns.

  • Campaign Owners who initiate fundraising campaigns.

It aims to clarify:

  • When donations can be canceled or refunded.

  • The process and timelines for issuing refunds.

  • Roles and responsibilities of users and the platform.

  • Relevant laws that govern refunds and cancellations.

2. Definitions

Term Meaning
Donor A user who contributes funds to a campaign.
Campaign Owner A user or organization that creates and manages a campaign.
Refund Reversal of a donation back to the donor’s original payment method or via other means as approved by the platform.
Cancellation Withdrawing a donation request before final settlement.

3. When Are Refunds Eligible?

Refunds may be issued under the following circumstances:

3.1 Duplicate Charge

If a donor is charged more than once for the same donation transaction due to technical or processing errors.

3.2 Technical Errors

Errors during processing (e.g., checkout failures that nevertheless triggered payment) where funds were not properly transferred to campaign funds.

3.3 Fraudulent or Unauthorized Transactions

Where evidence exists that a transaction was unauthorized, fraudulent, or made without the donor’s consent.

3.4 Campaign Removal Before Any Donation Distribution

If a campaign is taken down before funds are disbursed due to violation of policies (fraud, misrepresentation, prohibited content), donors may receive refunds.

4. Refund Ineligibility

Refunds will not generally be issued for:

  • Change of mind after a donation has been completed.

  • Dissatisfaction with campaign progress or outcomes.

  • Donations where funds have already been transferred to the campaign owner and cannot be retrieved.

  • Situations where campaign owners have provided evidence of legitimate use of funds.

5. Refund Process & Timeline

6. Refund Amount & Fee Deductions

6.1 Platform Fees & Payment Processing Charges

  • Payment Processor Fees: Usually non-refundable because these are charged by banks/payment partners.

  • Platform Service Fees: May be non-refundable depending on timing and circumstances.

6.2 Total Refund Amount

The refund amount will typically be:

Original Donation – Applicable Non-Refundable Fees

Example:
If ₹1,000 donation is made with ₹30 payment processor fee and ₹50 platform service fee, and the processor fee is non-refundable, the donor may receive ₹1,000 – ₹30 = ₹970 (subject to policy review and approval).

? All fee treatment will be communicated at the time of refund processing.

7. Cancellation of Donation

7.1 Before Completion

If a donor recognizes an error before final confirmation of payment, the transaction can be canceled directly within the payment page (provided the payment partner supports it) or by contacting our support immediately at info@donorunity.com.

7.2 After Completion

Once a donation is completed and confirmed in the donor’s account dashboard, the cancellation must follow the refund request process listed in Section 5.

8. Campaign Owner Responsibilities

Campaign Owners must:

  • Maintain transparency about how funds will be used.

  • Notify donors of unforeseen issues that may affect campaign outcomes.

  • Cooperate with DonorUnity.com if refunds are approved due to violations of platform policy.

Failure to comply with these responsibilities may affect future campaign eligibility.

9. Disputes Between Donors and Campaign Owners

Disputes regarding campaign integrity or usage of funds should be first reported to info@donorunity.com. Our team will:

  • Gather documentation from both parties.

  • Assess based on platform policies and available evidence.

  • Determine whether a partial or full refund is appropriate.

DonorUnity.com reserves the final decision on dispute resolution.
