At DonorUnity.com, we believe in transparency and fairness. This page explains clearly how pricing and fees work on our crowdfunding platform — including platform fees, payment processing charges, taxes, and legal compliance.

1. Overview of Fees

Using DonorUnity.com may involve the following types of fees:

Fee Type Who Pays Description
Platform Service Fee Donor or Campaign Owner (depending on setup) Fee for using our crowdfunding platform infrastructure and support.
Payment Processing Fee Donor Charged by the payment processor for handling digital transactions.
Taxes Donor or Campaign Owner Applicable taxes as required by law.
Refund Charges Donor or Campaign Owner Fees that may apply if a refund is issued.

2. Platform Service Fee

We charge a Platform Service Fee to support the operation, maintenance, and development of DonorUnity.com.

For Campaign Owners

  • A percentage of the total funds raised may be charged as a Platform Service Fee.

  • This fee helps maintain platform functionality, security, support, and compliance efforts.

For Donors

  • Some campaigns may allow donors to cover the Platform Service Fee at checkout, reducing the fee impact on campaign proceeds.

? Example: If a campaign raises ₹10,000 and the Platform Service Fee is 5%, ₹500 is deducted as the platform fee.

? Why We Charge This Fee
This fee enables us to:

  • Provide secure infrastructure

  • Ensure fraud & abuse protection

  • Facilitate compliance with financial and data protection laws

? Legal Note: Charging a transparent service fee aligns with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which requires clear disclosure of all charges associated with online services.

3. Payment Processing Fee

Donations made on DonorUnity.com are processed through third-party payment gateways. These gateways may charge a Payment Processing Fee for each transaction.

  • This fee is typically a percentage of the donation amount + a fixed transaction charge.

  • The exact amount depends on the donor’s chosen payment method (credit/debit card, UPI, net banking, etc.).

? Important: DonorUnity.com does not set or control payment processor fees. These are charged by banks and payment partners in accordance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Guidelines governing secure payments and digital fund transfers.

4. Taxes

Depending on applicable tax laws:

  • Goods & Services Tax (GST) may apply to Platform Service Fees.

  • Tax rates will be clearly displayed at checkout where applicable.

  • Donors and Campaign Owners are responsible for understanding their own tax obligations.

? Legal Reference: Tax collection and disclosure comply with the Central Goods & Services Tax Act, 2017 and other applicable tax regulations in India.

5. How Fees Are Displayed

On every donation checkout page, you will see:

  1. Donation Amount

  2. Platform Service Fee (if applicable)

  3. Payment Processing Fee (if applicable)

  4. Taxes (if applicable)

  5. Total Amount to Pay

We display fees clearly so you can make an informed decision before confirming your donation.

6. Fee Deduction & Disbursement

For Campaign Owners

Once a campaign receives donations:

  1. Payment Processor Fee is deducted at the point of transaction.

  2. Platform Service Fee (if applicable) is deducted from the net amount.

  3. Remaining Funds are available for withdrawal by the Campaign Owner.

Example:

  • Donation Received: ₹10,000

  • Payment Processing Fees: ₹300

  • Platform Service Fee (5%): ₹485 (5% on ₹9,700)

  • Net Amount for Campaign Owner: ₹9,215

? Note: All fees are calculated on the actual amount received after payment processor charges.

7. Refunds & Fees

Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.

Refund Scenarios & Charges

  • If a donation is eligible for a refund (e.g., duplicate charge or technical issue), payment processor fees may not be refundable.

  • Platform Service Fees may also be non-refundable, depending on the case.

  • Any refund issued will be clearly explained by our Support Team.

? To raise a refund request, contact us at info@donorunity.com.

? Legal Context: Refunds and fee deductions are processed in compliance with payment partner policies and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Guidelines.

8. Fee Adjustments & Updates

We may update our pricing and fee structure from time to time to:

  • Reflect changes in operational costs

  • Comply with new laws or financial regulations

  • Maintain improved platform services

Any such change will be notified on the Platform and will include the effective date of the new fees.
